Research Ready.

Research teams are building robots that do what used to be human tasks by mimicking the body and how it works. From hospitals to the metaverse, manufacturing plants to outer space, they need a hand, and PSYONIC is delivering. Since the Ability Hand is optimized to do those human tasks, it’s a perfect fit for robots and robotics researchers around the world.

Apptronik robot rocks on with a pair of Ability Hands in the Austin American-Statesman.

The Ability Hand provides unrivaled performance at a fraction of the cost of other bionic hands. So it’s little wonder that our users love its toughness, speed, and multi-touch capabilities.

And the Ability Hand is in high demand with robotics researchers too. They’re exploring the hand’s power and potential at NASA, Meta, Apptronik, Sanctuary AI, TNO, Georgia Tech, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, and other institutions. The Ability Hand is also being used by two finalist teams for the ANA Avatar X-Prize Competition.

The Ability Hand’s API enables torque, velocity, and position control of the 6 brushless DC motors as well as streaming of all 6 encoder values and 30 touch sensor values over BLE, I2C, UART, or RS485. Our Interface Control Document contains electrical specs, dimensions for our wrist connection, and commands you can send to the hand.
